Student Organizations Callout

January 30, 2015
Honors Helping Hands

To boost leadership development, the Honors College offers four student organizations for students to get involved in. The first, named Honors Helping Hands, is an organization that gives students the opportunity to give back to the community through service projects that enhance Purdue and the greater Lafayette area. Founding president Mark Adams says students should consider joining because “it provides a fantastic opportunity for students to be more involved with Purdue, build strong connections with honors students, and get know faculty.”

HCRPC

Students on the Honors College Residential Programming Committee (HCRPC) work together to organize and run programs designed to bring together all of the Honors College students living on campus in fun, impactful, and lasting ways. Students can become involved in this committee by either becoming an RA or being elected the HCRPC representative for their hall club.

Cultural Companions

According to freshman Bridget Curry, the third organization, called Cultural Companions, “pairs up domestic and international honors students as a way to support incoming international students as they adjust to life in America.” Cultural Companions gives domestic honor students the opportunity to be a mentor to an international student.

Honors Leadership Council

The last organization, The Honors Leadership Council, brings together representatives from each of Purdue’s colleges to relay suggestions to Honors College staff. The council meets twice a month to discuss various issues and is also in charge of planning a Leadership Toolbox event each semester.

To learn further information about getting involved in any of these student organizations, students can come to the organization call-out meeting on February 3rd at 6:30 in Shreve’s rec. lounge.
